What can I really say about the Eagles. First, their last game ended in a 13-13 TIE (YES TIE) with the 1-8 Bengals. Second, my “beloved” quarterback Donnie McNabb didn’t even know the game COULD end in a tie.

Uh. What? I mean. Uh. Huh? Quoth R-Diddy (Ray Didinger the sportswriter to you non Philly people):

So where do they go from here? They will win a few more games, they may even finish over .500, but it doesn’t mean a whole lot, not if your mission statement is winning championships as Jeff Lurie has always claimed. Right now, the Eagles are moving in the wrong direction. Seeing players celebrate a tie in Cincinnati is all the proof I need.

That’s pretty brutal, and I agree 100%. The words “pissed off” just don’t seem to do this whole situation justice.

One more quick quote:

The Eagles are a clueless, shapeless mess at the moment.

Now THAT sums it up.

I’ve been using a Windows based (ARGHHHHH) program to catalog all of my comic books. I haven’t really been collecting very long, so I only have about 250 or so books. However, the software made it fairly easy to catalog and store in a database. It even downloaded some basic information as well as cover images. This software was free for quite some time, and as usual, all good things must come to an end.

The company will start charging a subscription rate in 30 days. I pretty much refuse to pay for stuff that really should be free. It’s a decent program, but not something worth 45 bucks a year, that’s for sure. Call it the Dutchman in me.

When in doubt, whip some code out. It only took me a few hours to hack together some PHP and MySQL to get a quick and dirty web based comic book database rolling. It’s not all that pretty yet, but the backend is there and I can easily copy and paste information from the web. The most tedious part thus far is scanning all of the images into the system. So far so good though.

Please, do check it out.

Palm Centro

Wow, I can’t believe that I actually forgot to post about something I now love so very much. A few months ago I started to have minor problems with my Motorola Razr. It would turn itself off, wouldn’t turn on, stupid stuff like that. After a bit of research, I decided to pick up an AT&T Palm Centro.

In years past, I used different versions of Palms to keep track of my schedule for work. I always preferred the Palm OS as well as the Palm Apps, and the Centro is no different.

For anyone out there looking to sync a Palm Centro (or just about any USB based Palm these days) with Linux, please do yourself a favor and check out J-Pilot. It has the same look and feel as the Windows/Mac Palm desktop, and it syncs up flawlessly. Also, after a bit of Google work, I found a script that will download all pictures and videos from a microSD card. It’s written in Python and works really well.

To get the Palm working with Linux, make sure your kernel has the visor kernel module loaded, and J-Pilot will do the rest.
