I’ve said it before, so I shall say it again. It’s time for the NHL commissioner needs his head examined.

If you are a hockey fan, keep reading. If not, you might want to ignore this. In the late 70’s, the Flyers picked up the name “The Broad Street Bullies.” At that time, they decided that they would worry more about physical intimidation then worry about the rules. As we all know, that’s near impossible due to the way the league has shoved the rulebook down everyone’s throats.

Anyway, I’m starting to babble. Early on in this NHL season, some Flyers players had some “questionable” calls made against them, and have received as much as 20 games for a suspension. For us Flyers fans, the word questionable was certainly MORE then questionable itself.

In the last PA hockey rivalry game versus the Pens, Pittsburg tough guy Georges Laraque gave Steve Downie one of the ugliest boarding checks I’ve seen in some time. Here is were the league and the commish, well, to be blunt, sucks.

I will say it yet again. STOP CALLING THE RESULT OF A HIT. They are setting an ugly precedence that can get out of hand fast. That precedence is that if the hit is dirty and no one gets hurt, so be it; continue to play as many games as you want. Although, even if the hit isn’t as dirty but someone gets hurt, let’s by all means suspend away! Sounds fair right?
